President Obama has granted his first televised interview as President to al-Arabiya, the strongly anti-Semitic Arab television station. Had the purpose of the interview been to send a strong, clear and convincing message to the Arab community that terrorism will not be tolerated, and that the United States continues to support our strongest ally, Israel, I could potentially forgive the choice. Instead, however, the interview proves Obama's ego is trumped only by his naivete:
Obama seems to think he can just whisk away 61 years of history (and if we want to be more exact, we should go back to 1922) by simply showing up and talking about feelings rather than policy. Perhaps if Obama had a stronger grasp on what really did happen in the past, he would understand the issue lies squarely with Hamas. In fact, Obama seems to have no earthly idea that this has nothing to do with a Palestinian state, but the hamasholes never ending desire to eradicate Jews. From this interview, it's apparent Obama is unaware that problems such as rockets being lobbed into Israel don't exist in the West Bank as they do in Gaza - where Jewish settlements have been dismantled for years!
Obama addresses the issues in Iran, noting their support of terrorism "in the past" wasn't "helpful". In the past? Not helpful? Does he believe the hype that terrorism ceased to exist January 21, 2009? I wonder if the Muslim leaders of the world are feeling badly that their behavior "isn't helpful". Moreover, Obama equated Islamic terrorism (also occurring in the past) with nebulous other acts of terrorism in the name of religion. What is he referencing here? Perhaps he means all those Amish drive-by shootings.
Troubling as well is Obama's desire to return to a "partnership" with the Muslim world as we had "20 or 30 years ago". I'd love to understand if President Obama was referencing Ronald Reagan's administration, or Jimmy Carter's. To that end, if Obama meant to reference Carter, one could surmise Obama isn't clear when the Carter Administration exactly happened. If we return to Carter's policies, does that really constitute change? I suppose it would, as normal "change" means Clinton policy.

Zombie Does It Again - The Globalization of Intifada
Zombie has an incredible roll call of the Anti-Israel protests all held January 10th across the globe. Was the fact they all occurred on this date sheer luck or determined coordination? As Zombie points out, we may never know. What we do know, however, is these protests are now violent and the police in different countries seem unwilling or unable to contain it. See for yourself:
January 10, 2009: The Intifada is globalized as the Gaza War becomes a global War.

Israel Striking Gaza
Hamas has been lobbing missiles into Israel nonstop for the last few weeks. Israel kept saying "Knock it off or we will react strongly". Hamas, being arrogant as normal, kept it up. Israel was not bluffing and have been striking Gaza fast and furiously.
The Bush administration is supportive of Israel's self defense, asking that risks to civilians be minimized. That would be much easier if Hamas didn't place their military strong holds smack dab in the middle of town with no shelters for their citizens. Why would they do that? So they can cry "Oh look how many innocent lives the brutes took!". To Hamas, it's people are merely marketing tools to garner sympathy - a concept that has worked markedly well for them.
Of course CAIR is now seething and has chimed in with full support going to the Terrorists that started this violence by stating:
CAIR, seriously, get a better editor. The running together words are instant clues that you've cut and pasted your idiotic talking points in order to get this little piece of propaganda out quickly. I'd also like you to visit QassamCount. Instead of being concerned with what President-elect Obama is going to say, hows about you release a statement telling Hamas they are barbarians for using Palestinians as human shields as well as calling them on the carpet for lobbing missiles into Israel. Why don't you say something along the lines of "If you want peace, we suggest you stop waging war against people who can kick your ass as it appears their incredible restraint is now waning."
As for Team Obama, they've had sudden recall and stated there is only one President at a time. Great. That works now, but in a few weeks, this will all be placed in The One's lap. The Super Duper Peace plan was just sent down the tubes and Camp Obama is going to need to respond to this crisis. I predict a lot of disappointed peaceniks in the near future as the world is looking a bit different now that The One has joined the big show.

"Despite the public 'green light' given to the Israeli military by theBush administration, American Muslims join our fellow citizens who respectinternational law and the sanctity of human life in repudiating this massacrecarried out using U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons.
"It must be clear by now that the only future offered to the Palestinianpeople by the outgoing administration was one of perpetual subjugation andhumiliation at the hands of the Israeli occupiers. Unfortunately, our nation'stimid response to this tragic episode will only serve to fuel anti-Americansentiments in the Muslim world.
"We therefore call on President-elect Obama to demonstrate his commitmentto change our nation's current one-sided Mideast policy by speaking out now infavor of peace and justice for all parties to this decades-long conflict.
"We also call on world leaders to take direct action to end Israel'scounterproductive and wildly disproportionate attacks and to end thehumanitarian siege of Gaza, which led to the recent breakdown of theceasefire."
