Barry O has sudden recall where he says he considered joining the Army. He failed to mention this in BOTH of his memoirs, but who are we to quibble?
Barry says he considered this while having to register for the Selective Service when he graduated from High School. This is all fine and well, but when Barry graduated, he wouldn't have HAD to enroll. The Selective Service was suspended in 1975 and didn't get reinstated until 1980 by Jimmah Carter, who made it retro to males born on or after January 1, 1960. Barry would have had to enroll, but NOT when he graduated high school and he specifically states "when graduating from High School" in the interview. Details, details. (Jimmah reinstated this because he was afraid of the Soviet Union. That showed them, no doubt!).
PS - I liked John McCain's speech. It had its dull moments; it certainly didn't continue the momentum that Sarah Palin started, but it was a good, bare bones "this is what I mean" speech which I will take any day over a fantastic orator that leaves you asking, what did he say he was going to do?
